Events DC Invests $100,000 Annually in High-Impact Community Organizations to Foster Youth Participation in Arts adn Athletics in DC
Washington, DC – (May 17, 2017) — Events DC, the city’s convention and sports authority, Monday celebrated ten organizations that collectively received nearly $50,000 through its community grant program, part of a total of $100,000 worth of grants provided annually. The community organizations, honored at a luncheon at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, included Beacon House, Capitol Hill Workshop, CityDance, DC SCORES, The First Tee of Greater Washington, The Fishing School, Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena, GALA Hispanic Theatre, United Planning Organization, and Washington Performing Arts.

As part of Events DC’s mission to power the community, the grant program provides financial support to outstanding non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting children through sports, performing arts or cultural arts in Washington, DC.

Through the community grant program, Events DC awards one-year grants to non-profit organizations focused on enriching the lives of DC children or youth through structured sports or arts-related programs. To qualify as applicants, organizations must be incorporated in the District of Columbia as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Tax Code and must utilize grant funding for programs that support youth-focused sports, performing or cultural arts in the District of Columbia. All grant recipients are required to report on projects and programs supported by the grant, including budget expenditures and community impacts generated.
